Chelsea Crowned Champions of Europe

Havertz's Goal Seals Dramatic Victory

Chelsea have won the Champions League for a second time after Kai Havertz's first-half strike sealed a dramatic 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the all-English final.

Thomas Tuchel's side, who were beaten in last year's final by Bayern Munich, produced a resolute defensive display to deny the Premier League champions and claim their third major trophy in just over 12 months.

Havertz, who cost Chelsea £72m when he signed from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, produced a cool finish to give the Blues the lead after just 42 minutes. Manchester City, who dominated possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances, came close to equalising in the second half but substitute Christian Pulisic missed a glorious opportunity to double Chelsea's lead.

In the end, Chelsea held on for a famous victory that will further enhance the reputation of Tuchel, who has transformed the Blues since replacing Frank Lampard in January. It is also a significant triumph for owner Roman Abramovich, who has now overseen Chelsea's second Champions League triumph in the past nine years.
